The rural team are based in the Exchange offices, Exchange Street, Driffield from where they cover Yorkshire, parts of North East and the East Midlands. With eight Chartered Surveyors at our disposal we are able to provide advice to clients on all rural matters.

  • David Atkinson

    David Atkinson

    Partner, FRICS FAAV
    David joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 1977 after completing 4 years in Lincolnshire gaining experience as an articled student in private practice
    Qualifying as a member of the RICS by correspondence course through Reading University in 1980. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.
    He became a Partner in 1984 and his main area of work includes Land and Estate Management, working for both Landlord and Tenants, Sale, Lettings, Valuations and General Professional matters relating to Rural Businesses including the sale of Development Land.
    David is also an appointed Agent and Valuer for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation and is a Partner in a small family farming business.

    Sam is a Member of the RICS and a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers. Originally from Shropshire, Sam graduated from Reading University and joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 1997 to undertake her post graduate training before becoming a Valuer with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and then the Senior Rural Surveyor in Yorkshire for the National Trust. Sam re-joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 2011 and provides professional advice on a range of matters including estate management, valuation, compulsory purchase and compensation, together with sales and lettings and leads the commercial property department.

    Rebecca joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 1997 as a graduate after completing her studies in Rural Land Management at Cirencester, she subsequently qualified as a Member of the RICS and a Fellow of the CAAV.

    Her early career focused on rural estate management, and with that backdrop, she developed a special interest in, and an in-depth knowledge of, the Agricultural Holding Act and in particular succession planning, disputes and more importantly, resolution. She sits on the Property Committee of the CAAV.

    Rebecca works across the region, and outside it, advising both Landlords and Tenants, alongside general professional work. She works on a part time flexible basis within the Rural Team.

    Amelia joined the Dee Atkinson & Harrison Rural Team in 2020 after graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture awarded by Harper Adams University. She is currently studying an MSc degree in ‘Sustainable Food and Agriculture Policy’ via distance learning at the Royal Agricultural University with the intention of assisting agricultural businesses to build resilience following the shift in agricultural policy towards environmental foci and sustainable management practices. A wide range of previous farming experience means Amelia appreciates the practicalities of implementing change on farm and the challenges facing agriculture.

    Davina joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 2019, she lives locally and is involved in all aspects of the Yorkshire farming community.  After graduating from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Rural Land Management, Davina qualified as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers in 2007 and joins us with 13 year’s experience with a York based firm of Chartered Surveyors, Auctioneers & Valuers.  In 2013 Davina was awarded a prestigious Nuffield Farming Scholarship during which she studied Precision Agriculture and has been an advocate for all things “Agri-Tech”.  She provides professional advice on a range of matters including Estate Management, Valuation, Agency and Agri-Business including the preparation of Grant Applications for farmers looking to adopt the latest technologies. Davina is an RICS Registered Valuer and sits on the RICS Rural Board.
